Lytham
Lytham is a former fishing village, transformed
recently into one of the most attractive shopping
towns on the Fylde coast. Its tree-lined streets are
filled with pavement cafes and a wealth of
speciality shops, from traditional cheese and
fish dealers to modern clothing outlets. The centre
of Lytham boasts the new, mosaic floored "Piazza",
where visitors can sit and soak up an almost
continental atmosphere.

New
attractions like this add to the existing array of
magnificently preserved buildings, dating back as far as
the 16th Century. The most notable example of these is
Lytham Windmill, built in 1805, and in use until a fire
in 1919, but now beautifully restored and converted into
a museum. Others include Lytham
Hall, a Grade I listed building built around 1606. This
was the home of the Clifton family, who built most of
the town of Lytham.

St.Annes-on-Sea
St. Annes
is a seaside holiday resort built alongside Blackpool,
but offering a different style of atmosphere and a much
more relaxed feel than its often brash neighbour. The
offers a great deal of attractions for both young and
old, from its cinemas, pubs and clubs to the beautiful
Ashton Gardens and landscaped gardens along the
promenade.

The sea-front is lined with hotels and guest houses,
which all offer superb views across the sea. Further
along the front in both directions are rolling
sand-dunes which reach to Lytham in the south and
Blackpool in the north.
All in all Lytham &
St. Annes combine to present a wealth of choice to the
tourist, and offer the perfect base from which to vist
the Fylde coast's many other attractions.
